Sustainable Agriculture Initiative

In the rural area of Mlandizi Ward, Kibaha District, Pwani Region, agriculture has long been the backbone of local livelihoods. Yet, many families face persistent challenges—low crop yields, reliance on traditional methods, and devastating losses caused by climate change, including unpredictable rains and crop diseases. For years, farmers struggled to produce enough, often losing their harvest before it could reach the market.

To address these challenges, Tanzania Communities Rise Foundation established its own organic farm in the area, creating a center for learning, innovation, and empowerment. The Sustainable Agriculture project focuses on training women and youth in modern, climate-smart, and sustainable farming techniques. Participants gain hands-on experience growing tomatoes, capsicums (bell peppers), vegetables, chili, and papaya, while learning how to improve productivity, protect the environment, and generate reliable income.

Every year, new women and youth are recruited into the program, giving them the tools to break the cycle of poverty. Graduates of the program are empowered to start their own farms, apply sustainable farming practices in their communities, and create lasting economic opportunities for themselves and their families.

This initiative is more than a farm—it is a pathway to self-sufficiency, resilience, and climate adaptation.

By equipping local farmers with knowledge, skills, and resources, Tanzania Communities Rise Foundation is transforming agriculture in rural Pwani, improving livelihoods, and strengthening communities for the future.

Call for Partners

The foundation invites donors, stakeholders, and development partners to join this initiative. Support can expand training opportunities, provide essential resources, and enable more women and youth to embrace sustainable farming, build resilient livelihoods, and contribute to food security in Tanzania. Together, these efforts can create a stronger, empowered, and climate-resilient farming community.
